Shopping Buddies

Yesterday I took Max and Claire shopping with me for the first time together.  I had originally planned on only going to exchange clothes at Carters and Gymboree, but we ended up walking around the whole Friendly Center. (It's an outdoor mall).  Besides trying to maneuver the double stroller through the stores, we had a great time!
Before we left, I had Claire in a cute outfit and wanted to do a photo shoot, only she wasn't interested!

This is a new thing she does with her lips when she starts to cry!

Thought I'd have better luck in their usual location - but Nope!

Max was patient while we tried to have our photo shoot.  He was busy gnawing on his hand!
and making Max Man faces

and we got a few together...maybe today we will have some smiles :)

Trees and cars are not a good combo

Last night about one o'clock I heard this huge crash.  I immediately thought a tree had fallen on my car, but jumped up ran outside only to find there was a car that had crashed into my neighbors tree.  Justin was extremely confused, not hearing a thing, thinking someone was breaking in my car and was looking for his baseball bat!
We ran outside, grabbed my phone and called 911.
It was a drunk driver.  She had gone full speed right into this huge tree... she it it so hard that part of the tree came off in her grill.  All of the sudden she started backing up trying to leave - then I guess it just stopped working and the horn blared forever.  The neighbors across the street went to see if she was ok.  She said her neck hurt, but was freaking saying she didn't want the cops to come and that nobody was hurt - just to let her go.  It was her Mom's car and she didn't know she had it. (this lady had to be late 30s, early 40s.  She even tried to grab her purse and walk away.
The cops finally got here and she told them she had a glass of wine with dinner (what time was she eating dinner?!)
Thankfully, nobody was badly hurt.  She did leave in the ambulance, but was able to walk.  It that tree hadn't been there, she would have either hit my car, or even worse, our house.  This is the second time in the past few years there has been a drunk driver within feet of our house.  The last time a car ran full speed into a parked car on the street.
Please don't drink and drive!

My first Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!  Today was a great day :)  Max and Claire slept until 6!! We fed them, then Justin took them in the den to play and bring me coffee.  When he came back to the bedroom he brought each baby with a card and they were wearing "I Love Mom" and "I Love Mommy" shirts!! He picked them out all by himself!

We had Bojangles for breakfast (my choice :), went to our friends to watch a soccer game (his choice), then I took off while Justin and the babies played.  It was nice not to feel rushed - he fed, played and put them down for a nap.  It turned out to be a nice, sunny day so I took M and C on a walk while we waited for my mom and dad to come over.

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom!  She is the best and the reason I am the mom I am today!  I love and admire her more and more each day :)  Not only am I super lucky, Max and Claire are blessed to have her in their lives!

Thanks neighbor for your internet!

First off, I had planned on writing a post about my shopping day yesterday.  I splurged on a perfect pair of jeans and hoping to talk Justin into letting me get a second pair!  I also scored two beautiful sweaters from Banana Republic. One is a light blue and the other is pink - originally $69.50 and I got them for $16.99 each!  I'm thinking about going to get another color.

Last night Justin had a guy from work come over to cut down some trees in our backyard..... this is where the no cable/internet comes in.  The guy didn't get here until 7- feeding time.  (side note:  I had to feed, bathe, pj, and put both babies to bed by myself)  Within the first 10 min of them doing the work, they had done something to the cable.  I called Time Warner only for them to tell me we were off line and they would not be able to send someone out til SUNDAY at 1:30.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  That is ages away!
It is probably good to have no cable or internet for a few days, but the house is super quiet.... too quiet.

And a little vent (sorry J, if you are reading this)  Last night the babies started making noises around 2:30 am.  I had already gone in twice to re-swaddle and put pacis back in.  The third time I asked Justin to check on them and he replied, "I have to get up in a little to go to work" OMG that makes me so mad.  I was so tired, I too had worked all day and will work all day today and the next..... so I jumped up and just got them out to start feeding.
Why do guys not realize that SAHM is a full time, 24/7, job too?  I'd like to see them stay a full day by themselves with the babies and see how tired they are!

6 am!

Today I decided to take the babies to Target...by myself!  Claire can support herself while sitting in the Bumbo seat, so I thought it would be nice to get the tray to go along.  I also bought some new toys to hang from their play mat and a rattle ball that is easy to grip.

Max has recently discovered his hand.  He stares at it all day!! It's the cutest!  Today I put this wrist rattle on it and he loved it!

They truly are such a blessing! Didn't know I could love someone this much!

They even slept til 6am this morning!! AWESOME
There were noises coming from their room around 5 so Justin went to get them, but realized Claire was in a deep sleep so he tried putting in Max's paci...sure enough it worked!  I stayed awake to pump so I have been up since 5 this morning...... This girl is a little tired.  Just got back from the gym at 10pm so I have to wind down before I go to bed. sigh

Hey, I know you!

Max and Claire are growing up so fast and learning new things every day!  They have recently been interacting more with each other, following voices and objects and smiling non stop.

Hey Claire!

 You look familiar!

They have been having lots of "conversations" together!!

I'm loving this age!!

Tap Room 5k

Today, my SIL, husband, and friend Buddy ran a local 5k.  It was a perfect day for a run!  It was put on by a local  bar so after you ran, you had tickets for two free beers!!
I was very proud of myself bc I ran the full 3.1 and at a 9:45 min. pace.  This was the most I have consecutive ran since our triathlon last April.  Besides the many hills, it felt great.  Thanks to my SIL, Darcy, for running with me - Justin left us early on!

They had a band playing when the race was over. Music, beer, friends, and good weather...what more could you ask for?!
