Fun activities and staying busy!

TGIF! I feel like this week has dragged on and on!  It may be because we are trying to drop Max and Claire's afternoon nap.  It's kind of a tough decision.  They still wake up pretty early (recently around 6:45) and can take a two hour nap.  The problem is they end up staying awake until 9, sometimes 9:30.  That's a long day!  Max does pretty well without a nap, Claire on the other hand, not so great.  If we have quiet time, she falls asleep.

Anywho, so this week we have been doing lots of activities and different things to stay busy and not nap.

Monday we went to a Strawberry Farm.  It was HOT, but the strawberries are so good!  They were done after about five minutes, but had fun.

2013
2014  Claire dressed herself.  Why wouldn't you want to wear a sweatshirt when it is 90 outside?!

2014:  Max did a great job picking his berries!
We had some fun in the sprinkler!  They came outside while I was watering flowers and ended up in the sprinkler!

Fun in undies!
Play dates with our buddies!

And today, in the rain, we went to pet wild animals! I'm not sure how it all came about, but there was a free exhibit of monkeys, goats, ponies, llamas, baby tiger, kangaroo and a camel!  Max was very brave and fed the goats and they both rode the ponies!

cuties!

this is big for Claire to do!
As much fun as this was for us, I feel bad for the animals in the cages :(

So, without nap, these kiddos are in bed by 7:15!! Hoping for a good night's sleep!

Mamas Just Wanna Have Fun

This past weekend, five moms headed to Bald Head Island.  Yes, we know it was Mother's Day... and that was the reason we went!  I'm not sure I've laughed that hard in a long time.  It was such a fun, hysterical, and relaxing weekend.

I really do have the best friends anyone could ever ask for!

There are so many funny stories from this weekend, but the kind you have to have been there for.  I still find myself laughing just from the pictures!

We did leave early Sunday morning so we could all get back to our families.  Sunday night we went to my parent's house for dinner.  Blessed to have such an awesome Mom and mother-in-law.  Max and Claire think so, too!

Game ON!

Justin and I have been unhappy with our weight/bodies for a while now.  We keep talking about it, but not following through (mainly eating well).

Well, this past Monday, we started a challenge with another couple!  A healthy competition that will last six weeks.  Which ever couple loses the largest percentage wins! Losers buy dinner out.

We downloaded My Fitness Pal and have been logging all our nutrition.  So far it's been going great!  It's amazing how hard it is to eat all your calories when you eat clean!  One cool thing about My Fitness Pal, is it breaks down what you are eating: Carbs, Protein and Fat.  I was surprised to see that I am eating mostly carbs and fat (good fat).

For ex. today:

Breakfast
2 eggs, 1 egg white
1/2 banana

workout

Protein shake made with almond milk

Lunch
1 piece of  Eziekel bread with 1 tbs of natural pb and a tiny bit of honey
2 tbs guacamole
1/2 serving of Gluten free crackers
Fuji Apple

Dinner
Grass fed burger with 2 tbs shredded cheese
romaine lettuce, cucumber and 1 tbs of balsamic dressing
2 glasses of wine ;-)   (I was trying to wait til the weekend but it was so nice grilling out!)

snack: 1/4 cup cinnamon trail mix from Whole Foods

I didn't do so well with veggies today :(   {yesterday I had a ton of broccoli, Kale and Carrots, so I am eating veggies too}

Post Op

I had my post op appointment today.  It's been 19 days since my surgery and I finally feel great!  The past few weeks, people kept asking if I'm ok emotionally.  I would always say yes and truthfully thought so, even feeling bad that I wasn't more upset... until today.  As I sat in the waiting room, I watched pregnant lady after pregnant lady walk through the door.  I started tearing up.  I would be around 11 weeks.  When they put me in my room, I lost it.  I think I needed a moment to myself to really let in sink in.  Now I am OK.

And thankful for the two CRAZIES that we have and LOVE very much!

Ninja Warriors

Last Tuesday Max and Claire started Ninja Warriors, a Taekwondo class for kids ages 3-5.  I was originally just signing Max up, then when the owner said it was 30% sibling discount, free uniform and they would be working on respect and discipline, I knew I had to sign Claire up as well.

It is so cute to watch.  All the kids love to say, "hiya" and look at themselves in the mirror.  Max loves it and does pretty well.... as long as he is not following what his sister is doing.  Claire... well, she's Claire! She kind of does her own thing.  Taekwondo is not her thing!

Today was their first day to wear their outfits.  Claire refused.  She insisted on this random pajama shirt and soft pants.  Wasn't going to fight it.  She ended up sitting on my lap half the class.

Ninja Max!
In other news....
today I went to the gym for the first time in a month!  I just walked at a medium pace for 40 minutes.  It felt so good to be back in there!  Can't wait to really get back!  I have my post op follow up next Wednesday. I'll feel more comfortable adding activity once I meet with my doctor.

First Dentist Appointment!

Max and Claire had their first dentist appointment this past Monday.  I wasn't sure how they would do.... actually, I thought Claire would do great bc she was the volunteer when the dentist came to their school.
Well, they both did fantastic!  I was so proud of both of them.  The office is VERY kid friendly.  There were flat screen TVs everywhere and they were playing Frozen.  They also got to wear sunglasses while they had their cleaning and it was super quick.
They were both squeaky clean!

Also, I wanted to thank you all for your sweet comments.  I am feeling so much better!

And they're gone

Friday morning I woke up with severe pain.  I had a doctor's appointment that afternoon, but I could not wait.  I went in, had an ultrasound and found out the "mass" had doubled in size and I had internal bleeding.... So surgery it was.  I got to the hospital around 10 and was in surgery by 10:45 and was in there just under two hours.  I had laparoscopic surgery and now have three incisions to add to my c-section scar.

While the Dr. was in, she checked out my other fallopian tube.  It was in poor condition, so she removed it as well.  It's kind of weird. Friday went by so fast and is such a blur.  I'm feeling better, just sore from surgery.  Max and Claire went to Charlotte to spend time with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Darcy, leaving some quiet time for us.  Last night two friends dropped off dinner and dessert.  I really have the best friends and family
