Last night about one o'clock I heard this huge crash. I immediately thought a tree had fallen on my car, but jumped up ran outside only to find there was a car that had crashed into my neighbors tree. Justin was extremely confused, not hearing a thing, thinking someone was breaking in my car and was looking for his baseball bat!
We ran outside, grabbed my phone and called 911.
It was a drunk driver. She had gone full speed right into this huge tree... she it it so hard that part of the tree came off in her grill. All of the sudden she started backing up trying to leave - then I guess it just stopped working and the horn blared forever. The neighbors across the street went to see if she was ok. She said her neck hurt, but was freaking saying she didn't want the cops to come and that nobody was hurt - just to let her go. It was her Mom's car and she didn't know she had it. (this lady had to be late 30s, early 40s. She even tried to grab her purse and walk away.
The cops finally got here and she told them she had a glass of wine with dinner (what time was she eating dinner?!)
Thankfully, nobody was badly hurt. She did leave in the ambulance, but was able to walk. It that tree hadn't been there, she would have either hit my car, or even worse, our house. This is the second time in the past few years there has been a drunk driver within feet of our house. The last time a car ran full speed into a parked car on the street.
Please don't drink and drive!
I *think* I saw a similar incident yesterday afternoon near my house.
ReplyDeleteIt was a younger boy and he had literally gotten out of his car in the middle of a 2 lane road and was standing on the side of it acting really out of sorts.
All of sudden it was like he realized his car was about to cause a huge accident because he was in a curve so you didn't see him until you got up near him. He got back in and back up to leave. I then realized he had damaged the entire other side of his car. There was even debris hanging out of it like grass etc.
CRAZY!
